Operation Blue Star anniversary: Security beefed up around Golden Temple in Amritsar
Amritsar: Today is the anniversary of Operation Blue Star. The anniversary celebrations are being held at Sri Akal Takht Sahib at Sri Harmandir Sahib. Tight security arrangements have been made by the police to deal with any untoward incident. Police as well as paramilitary forces have been deployed across the city. Intensive checking is being done by blocking the roads going in and out of the city.
Police patrolling has also been put on all the roads leading to and around Sri Harmandir Sahib. Punjab Police as well as commandos have been deployed in the corridor around Sri Harimandir Sahib.
Police Commissioner Naunihal Singh said that even though the Amritsar bandh has been announced during the anniversary of Operation Blue Star, peace and law and order will be maintained at any cost.
