Cabinet Minister and DC review paddy procurement operations in Jalandhar

Punjab Government committed to lifting every grain, ensures smooth procurement season

Jalandhar News: Punjab Horticulture, Freedom Fighter and Defence Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today visited the New Grain Market in Jalandhar city to assess the ongoing paddy procurement operations. The duo assured that the Punjab Government is fully committed to ensuring the lifting of every single grain brought by farmers to the mandis.

Mr. Bhagat and Dr. Aggarwal emphasized that elaborate arrangements have already been made to ensure a seamless and hassle-free procurement season. They informed that lifting of the paddy crop by the concerned procurement agencies has commenced, with all issues related to the lifting process now resolved. “Farmers will not face any problems while selling their crops,” reiterated Bhagat.

The Minister praised the Jalandhar administration led by DC Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal for its comprehensive efforts to support farmers during the procurement process and directed officials to prioritize regular monitoring of the operations. He also stressed the importance of ensuring prompt payments to farmers for their purchased crops. He mentioned that the Punjab Government’s ongoing efforts aim to guarantee smooth operations and timely payments, furthering its commitment to the farming community.

Meanwhile, the Minister and the DC also interacted with the farmers and took their valuable suggestions regarding procurement season. The farmers expressed satisfaction after commencement of lifting and with the arrangements made by the administration. 

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Aggarwal added that the pace of lifting will increase in the coming days to meet the demands of the season. District Mandi Officer Mukesh Kaile, DFSC Narinder Singh, and representatives of procurement agencies were also present during the inspection.

No issue with PR 126 variety of paddy, all crops to be procured- DC

Interacting with the farmers, the Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal stated that there was no issue with respect to paddy crop PR 126. He reiterated that the agencies will procurement entire crop brought by the farmers regardless of its variety. He mentioned that no stone to be left unturned in this task as all the varieties brought by farmers were being procured in the Mandis. He directed the officials concerned to ensure that farmers do not face any problem regarding crop variety and its procurement.
