Paddy procurement progressing smoothly in Jalandhar

Jalandhar News:  In its commitment to ensure seamless Kharif marketing season, nearly 98-percent of the arrived paddy in 81 grain markets of the district has been procured smoothly by the agencies.

     A total of 674797-MT paddy has been arrived in the grain markets of which 658239-MT paddy has also been procured.
Disclosing further details,

    Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that officials were already directed to ensure instant lifting of the grains as soon as the produce arrived in the grain markets. He said that farmers would not face any kind of hurdle in selling their grains. He said that Pungrain had procured 246645-MT paddy, 176999-MT by Markfed, 165994-MT by Punsup, 67533 -MT Punjab warehouse and 1069-MT by private traders. The payments worth Rs 1393 crore have also been made to the farmers.

    The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration had made elaborate arrangements to ensure that the harvest of farmers was lifted from the grain markets in a smooth, timely and hassle free manner.
