PNB MetLife Punjab open badminton tournament concludes  

Deputy Director Manvinder Singh Awards ₹3 Lakh in Cash Prizes to Winners

Jalandhar, September 22- The PNB MetLife Punjab Open Badminton Tournament, which commenced on September 18 at Raizada Hansraj Stadium, concluded on Sunday.

 

Jalandhar’s Danish, Viren, and Vansh Emerge as Champions

Players from Jalandhar performed exceptionally well, with Danish, Viren, and Vansh securing first place in the Under-17, Under-15, and Under-11 categories, respectively. In the girls’ category, Sania secured first place in the Under-17 competition.

On behalf of PNB MetLife, Sameer Mishra welcomed Chief Guest Deputy Director Manvinder Singh with bouquets. Special guests included Punjab Gramin Bank Chairman Gajendra Kumar Negi, General Manager Deepak Kumar Banka, and District Badminton Association Secretary and former national player Ritin Khanna.

Around 750 players from Punjab and other states participated in the tournament. The competition included singles matches for boys and girls in the Under-9, 11, 13, 15, and Under-17 categories. During the five-day-long PNB MetLife Junior Badminton Championship Manvinder Singh honored the winners with ₹3 lakh in cash prizes. Winners received ₹15,000, runners-up received ₹10,000, and third-place finishers received ₹2,500.

 


Every Player’s Success is Backed by Their Family: Manvinder Singh

Chief Guest Manvinder Singh emphasized the crucial role of family in a player’s success. He urged parents to encourage their children to participate in sports to keep them physically active and away from gadgets. Mr. Singh congratulated the organizers for the successful event, stating that such competitions instill a sense of competitiveness and promote a healthy lifestyle among children. He also inspired all the players to excel in their sports careers.

Girls’ Under-17: First place – Sania (Jalandhar), Second place – Sejal Kaur (Fazilka), Third place – Kaur Simarpreet (Jalandhar East) and Tavleen Kaur (Hoshiarpur).  

Boys’ Under-17: First place – Danish Bhanot (Jalandhar West), Second place – Aditya Sharma (Ludhiana), Third place – Geetansh Sharma and Achyut Sharma (Jalandhar East).  

Girls’ Under-15: First place – Dishika Suri (Amritsar), Second place – Aradhya Singh, Third place – Kaur Simarpreet (Jalandhar East) and Japleen Kaur (Firozpur).  

Boys’ Under-15: First place – Viren Seth (Jalandhar East), Second place – Singh Zorawar (Jalandhar West), Third place – Shivane Dhingra (Fazilka) and Kumar Shaurya Khanna (Jalandhar East). 

 

Girls’ Under-13: First place – Aradhya Singh (Amritsar), Second place – Japleen Kaur (Firozpur), Third place – Suveran Kaur and Mansirat Kaur (Jalandhar East).  

Boys’ Under-13: First place – Ritik Dhaka, Second place – Vihaan Kapoor (SAS Nagar), Third place – Zorawar Singh (Jalandhar East) and Dipansh Kundra (Jalandhar West).  

Girls’ Under-11: First place – Adya Singh Meena, Second place – Kaylin Kaylin (SAS Nagar), Third place – Japleen Kaur (Hoshiarpur) and Nimrat Kaur Mann (Jalandhar East).  

Boys’ Under-11: First place – Yuvan Bansal (Barnala), Second place – Tavish Chaudhary (Hoshiarpur), Third place – Frank and Anshveer Singh Khosa.  

Girls’ Under-9: First place – Naira Sharma (Gurdaspur), Second place – Anya Tiwari (Ludhiana), Third place – Myra Katlaria (SAS Nagar).  

Boys’ Under-9: First place – Vansh Sharma (Jalandhar East), Second place – Garv Aggarwal (Amritsar), Third place – Jasnoor Singh (Gurdaspur) and Mahir (Ludhiana).
