Poisonous gas leak from sewerage causes major accident in Ludhiana that led to 11 deaths: Inquiry Report

Chandigarh: Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik has directed revenue department finance commissioner K.A.P. Singh to probe the death of 11 people due to a gas leak in Gyaspura area of Ludhiana.

The two-page report was submitted to Sinha on Thursday. It has been clearly stated in the report that this accident has not happened due to the leakage of gas from a factory, but due to the leakage of poisonous gas of sewerage.
Due to the excess of carbon monoxide gas in the sewerage, this gas leaked through a toilet. Due to this, people died of suffocation. The accident was so painful that an 8-month-old child had to lose his parents.
Sources say that the investigation in the report revealed that a large amount of carbon monoxide and hydro sulfide was found in the air. In the case of gas leakage, it was being speculated from the beginning that this gas has leaked from sewerage. The report said carbon monoxide and hydro-sulfide gas spread through sewerage. The area was not ventilated, the report said.
