PRTC staff blocks road after passenger slaps conductor in Banur

Chandigarh: In protest against the beating up of the conductor of the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation bus going from Zirakpur to Rajpura, PRTC drivers and conductors blocked the buses in front of the government school in Banur this morning. Long queues of vehicles were seen on both sides of the road due to the jam that took place from 10 am to 11.45 am.

ASI Jaspal Singh of Banur police station reached the spot and pacified the employees and opened the jam with the assurance of appropriate action, after which the traffic was restored and the passersby breathed a sigh of relief.

According to the information received, the husband and wife had boarded from Zirakpur to Banur with their child. The couple had an argument with the bus conductor as the bus was stopped a little ahead of the chowk at Zirakpur. They called their family members over the phone at Banur.

The conductor of the bus alleged that the passenger got down from the bus at Banur and manhandled him and slapped him. In protest, they stopped the bus and put it on the way. Meanwhile, other buses also arrived there. The rider, who had a quarrel with the conductor, also alleged that she was later beaten up by Pepsu drivers-conductors.

ASI Jaspal Singh said that the jam has been opened and further investigation is underway in the matter.
