Punjab govt and farmers reach agreement: FIR and red entry on stubble burning will be cancelled
Chandigarh: Eighteen organizations from northern India, alongside the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (a non-political entity), held meeting with the Punjab government to discuss stubble burning and several crucial demands, notably the Bharat Mala project.
Consequently, the government displayed a softer stance towards the farmers, leading to the acceptance of most of their demands. Assurances were provided on various issues, calming the farmers’ anger.
Following the protest in Mukerian, the government announced a meeting with the farmers. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha and the Forum of 18 Farmer-Workers Organizations from North India held a meeting at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh, chaired by Ministers Harpal Singh Cheema and Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal.
A 10-member delegation from both forums, including Sarwan Singh Pandher, Jagjit Singh Dallewal, Sukhjeet Singh Bhatti, Satnam Singh Bagri, Sukhjinder Singh Khosa, Kulwinder Singh Panjola, Dilbagh Singh Harigarh, Jarnail Singh Kaleke, Des Raj Moudgil, and Amarjit Singh Mohri, participated in the meeting.
