Punjab High Court grants relief to Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan in case of hurting religious sentiments

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted bail to Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan in a case of hurting religious sentiments. In 2021, an FIR was lodged against Gurdas Maan for stating that Laddi Shah, the chief of Dera Baba Murad Shah, was a descendant of the third Sikh Guru, Amar Das.

On May 27, the individual who filed the case challenged the decision pronounced by the Nakodar court in the High Court. The High Court has now ruled in favor of Gurdas Maan. The Nakodar court had previously ordered the quashing of the case registered against Gurdas Maan.

The High Court accepted the petition of Harjinder Singh, alias Jinda, and issued notices to all the concerned parties, seeking their replies by June 13.

The petitioner stressed that Gurdas Maan’s description of Laddi Shah as a descendant of Sri Guru Amar Das Ji had hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
