Punjab Police set up its own network to deal with rumours; Strict action to be taken against fake news

Chandigarh: The Punjab Police has created its own network to deal with fake news and rumours circulating on social networking sites. 

According to a report, the police administration has provided mobile numbers to all station in-charges and asked them to make public the good work and facts of the police by making a broadcast list of more than 250 people in their area.
The SHOs have been asked to prepare a broadcast list of dignitaries from their area and send messages to them which they will receive on their official WhatsApp groups. He said the police team is also keeping an eye on fake news and rumours.
