SCERT organises workshop on ‘Empowering Safe Workplaces’

Mohali (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar): The Minister of School Education, Higher Education, and Language, Harjot Singh Bains, guided the collaboration between the Guidance and Career Counseling Cell of SCERT Punjab and ‘Breakthrough Trust’ to organize a workshop on ‘Safe Workplaces’ for officials from SCERT and DGSE Punjab offices. The successfully conducted workshop focused on the theme of ‘Empowering Safe Workplaces.’

Comprehensive information on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013, was provided during this special training session. The seminar, inaugurated by Shri Avikesh Gupta, Director of SCERT Punjab, and conducted by Dr. Shruti Shukla, AD (Guidance and Career Counseling Cell, SCERT Punjab), aimed to empower women in offices by enhancing their understanding of legal aspects related to harassment.
Dr. Shruti Shukla, Program Coordinator, expressed that the workshop’s goal was to equip women with the knowledge to raise their voice, providing a deeper understanding of the legal aspects of harassment. The interactive session delved into the intricate details of the law, discussing definitions and procedures, and enabled the audience to grasp the practical implications through theoretical discussions and real-life examples of sexual harassment cases.
The workshop fostered an open discussion environment, encouraging participants to share their perspectives, concerns, and questions related to the challenging topic of sexual harassment. Ms. Veenu Kakkar, the workshop facilitator, shared her experience and knowledge on gender rights, specifically addressing sexual harassment in the workplace.
Following the session, participants not only gained awareness of the legal aspects of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act but also pledged to contribute to creating a safe, healthy, and equitable environment, empowering women in all spheres of life.
