School Education Dept enrolls record over one lakh students in a day

Chandigarh: Setting yet another benchmark, the school education department has enrolled over one lakh students in a single day.

Divulging this, School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said, on the very first day of the admission campaign, the target of enrolling one lakh new students in government schools has been achieved. The department has recorded 1,00,298 admissions during this special campaign organised on Firday between 8 am to 10 pm. The enthusiasm could be gauged from the fact that even as the server of departmental website was down, the admission work continued till late at night, said the Cabinet Minister, adding that students on a large scale have enrolled in government schools from private schools.

He informed that district Fatehgarh Sahib registered 134.6 percent admissions against the target, while district Ferozepur, Barnala, Amritsar, Bathinda, Kapurthala, Patiala, SBS Nagar, Malerkotla, Fazilka, Tarn Taran and Sangrur also registered 103.44% to 128.28% admissions. He said that it’s crystal clear from the overwhelming response of the people to the admission campaign that the people have endorsed the policies of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led government. He said that the state government has taken many initiatives such as launching of schools of eminence, providing uniforms and books well in time, ensuring clean bathrooms and constructing new rooms and boundary walls for ensuring qualitative school education. Besides this, the state government has recruited teachers in large number in the first year, he added.

School Education Minister said that this campaign will continue till March 31, 2023 in every government school of the state. He categorically said that the target of admissions has only been achieved with the cooperation and support of all the teachers.
