SGPC member files petition in High Court against Ram Rahim’s parole

Chandigarh: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member BS Sialka has sought quashing of the Haryana government’s order granting parole to Dera chief Ram Rahim. Haryana Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Rohtak Commissioner, Director General of Police, Principal Secretary of Punjab Home Department, Union Home Secretary, Sunaria Jail Superintendent, DC Rohtak and Dera chief Gurmeet Singh have been made respondents in the petition.

The petition has alleged that the Haryana government has directly violated the rules by granting 40-day parole to Ram Rahim.
The petition said the Dera chief was serving sentences in cases like rape and murder. In Punjab too, several cases are registered against him.
Guru Granth Sahib ji was allegedly insulted by his followers, which led to several controversies between Sikhs and his followers. Due to this, there were several protest marches in Punjab held against him.
