SHO and ASI clash in Pathankot, suspended

Chandigarh: There has been a fight between two officers of the police department in Pathankot. An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) posted at the Kolian police checkpoint was reportedly assaulted by the SHO of Narot Jaimal Singh police station in Pathankot. The injured ASI has been admitted to the civil hospital for treatment.

According to the victim, ASI Arjun Singh, he was performing his duties at the Kolian police checkpoint at night when, around 2 o’clock in the morning, Sarabjit Singh, the in-charge of the Narot Jaimal Singh police station, came to the checkpoint and attacked him without any explanation, injuring him. His family then brought him to the civil hospital for treatment.

DSP Harkrishna said that the case of assault on the ASI had come to his notice. As a result, two employees, including the SHO, have been suspended and sent to the line pending further investigation.

The wife of ASI Arjun Singh, who is admitted to the hospital, said that the DSP assured her that strict action would be taken against SHO Sarabjit Singh. A formal complaint has also been submitted to the SSP against the accused SHO.

DSP Harkrishna further mentioned that if ASI Arjun Singh had been sleeping while on duty at night, the SHO should have taken formal action against him. However, the SHO’s physical assault on the ASI was inappropriate. Consequently, the SHO has been suspended and sent to the line.
