Stern action will be initiated against fake travel agents: Jalandhar DC 

Jalandhar: Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Wednesday issued strict warning and categorically said that stern action would be initiated against fake travel agents to protect gullible individuals from falling prey to fraud when attempting to travel abroad. 
During a meeting with representatives of the Travel Agents Association at the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated the District Administration’s commitment to cracking down on counterfeit travel agents, ensuring that no one would be allowed to exploit people.
On the issue of misleading promotions by fake travel agents on social media, he said that the police along with teams of cybercrime units to take appropriate action against such agents.
While reviewing the process of travel agents’ license renewals, the Deputy Commissioner urged expediting the renewal process and ensuring the resolution of all pending files within 10 days.
Additionally, Mr. Sarangal listened to the association’s concerns and assured them that the administration would soon establish a coordination committee to address these issues. He emphasized regular committee meetings to discuss matters such as registrations, renewals, and their prompt resolution.
Moreover, he highlighted the district administration’s vigilant monitoring of immigration firms and travel agents in line with the Punjab Government’s directives. 
The Deputy Commissioner also urged the public, particularly parents seeking to send their children abroad for further education, to verify the legitimacy of firms before using their services.
