Sudhar Lehar to disband in Amritsar on December 9
Amritsar: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Sudhar Lehar will formally disbanded its wing during a special gathering at Amritsar on December 9, announced Gurpartap Singh Wadala on Saturday.
The decision aligns with directives issued earlier by Jathedar Raghuvir Singh and the Panj Singh Sehban of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
The meeting, scheduled for 11 a.m., will see the participation of the party’s leadership, including members of the Presidium, Executive, and Advisory Board.
“This decision respects the directives of the Singh Sahiban, which have significantly enhanced the dignity of Sri Akal Takht Sahib,” said Wadala.
The Sudhar Lehar, initiated to address shortcomings in SAD’s functioning and decisions taken without consulting senior leaders, had aimed to strengthen the party’s foundational principles. However, Wadala expressed concerns over delays in implementing key directives. He noted that Singh Sahiban had ordered the SAD to accept resignations, including that of Sukhbir Singh Badal, and inform Sri Akal Takht Sahib within three days, he added.
Wadala criticized the party leadership for failing to comply with these orders, stating that their inaction has caused discontent among the Sikh community.
“The attempts to delay resignations under various pretexts undermine the authority of Sri Akal Takht Sahib,” he said, emphasizing that adherence to the orders of the Akal Takht is the duty of every Gursikh.
He further accused SAD working president Balwinder Singh Bhunder and others of obstructing the implementation of the Singh Sahiban’s directives.
“Such actions have deeply hurt the Sikh panth and tarnished the credibility of the party leadership,” he remarked, calling on the SAD to uphold Panthic values and respect the Akal Takht’s decisions.
