Sukhbir Badal apologises to Panth for sacrilege and failure to arrest culprits

On the occasion of the 103rd foundation day of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), its president, Sukhbir Singh Badal, apologized to the Sikh Panth for the 2015 sacrilege incident during the Akali regime and acknowledged their failure to apprehend the culprits responsible for the incident. Present at the bhog of Akhand Path commemorating the SAD’s foundation day, held at the shrine of Shaheed Baba Gurbaksh Singh within the Harmandir Sahib complex, Sukhbir Singh Badal addressed the sangat. He expressed deep regret for the sacrilege incident that occurred during the Panthic government, emphasizing the sorrow it brought.
Badal disclosed that owing to the pressure at the time, the Akali government had transferred the investigation to the CBI. Subsequent governments failed to apprehend the culprits, resorting instead to politicizing the issue. Promising to rectify this if given another opportunity, he pledged that the SAD would not only capture the perpetrators but also uncover those leveraging politics over the matter.
Additionally, Badal extended apologies to aggrieved SAD leaders without specifying names, urging unity within the party to confront challenges affecting the Panth. He also encouraged participation in the upcoming Panthic protest scheduled for December 20 in Delhi, advocating for the release of detained Sikhs. SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, senior SAD leaders, and others graced the occasion with their presence.
