Thanks to AAP, secessionists again raising heads

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today questioned the laxity shown by the Aam Aadmi Party government towards rising secessionist and extremist activities in the state.

He specifically referred to the “azadi” march taken out in Hoshiarpur on September 29 to mark the anniversary of a plane hijacking, which had caused fear and panic among people.

“Worst was feared, worst is happening”, Warring said in a statement, adding, “we had warned against the Aam Aadmi Party’s nexus with Khalistanis which was confirmed by Gurpatwant Singh Pannu who said, he had financially supported the AAP in elections”. He pointed out, AAP had never denied Pannu’s claims.

He alleged that the secessionist forces had again started raising their heads in Punjab and asked the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav as to what they were doing about it.

Earlier, Warring had also written a letter to the DGP expressing his grave concern over such activities, which were reminiscent of the tragic and horrible memories of the dark era in Punjab.

“We cannot afford that era again and we must not allow that to happen again”, he urged the Chief Minister while appealing to him to take strict measures and assuring him all cooperation from Punjab Congress for safeguarding and maintaining peace and harmony in Punjab.

The PCC president also referred to the so called “azadi” march taken out in Hoshiarpur town on September 29 to mark the anniversary of plane hijacking by the organization 40 years ago. “Is the hijacking an act to celebrate?” he asked while pointing out, the Punjab government had not taken any action thus lending credence to the fears that the Aam Aadmi Party was hand in glove with such forces.

He also sought strict action against those who were spreading secessionist and extremist propaganda and trying to create a wedge between different communities in the name of Sikh religion, which teaches and emphasizes peace and harmony among all people.
