The main objective of the ‘Udariyan’ Bal Vikas Mela is comprehensive development of children: Dr. Baljit Kaur

Chandigarh: The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann celebrated the “Udaariyan”- Bal Vikas Mela in Anganwadi Centers in villages across the state with great enthusiasm. During this fair, the social security department made an effort for the development of every child by fulfilling the basic needs of children.

Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister of Punjab Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the department is working with determination for the complete development of children through Anganwadi Centers. Child Development Week was celebrated in all Anganwadis with the support of Miraki Foundation which is working with the department to strengthen the primary education of children. Different activities were conducted every day for the Udariani Bal Vikas Mela. A webinar was organized to familiarize all DPOs and CDPOs, supervisors, Anganwadi workers and helpers about their responsibilities in Punjab. The Social Security Department issued the slogan “Every parent, every street, every village has one voice for every child’s complete development” for the Udariyan-Bal Vikas Mela.

Giving further information, the Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development said that all days of the week were specially celebrated by the department for Udariyan Bal Vikas Mela. During this week, local NGOs raised awareness and funds about child nutrition, with a special message from the Punjab government, Bal Vikas Mela activities started in all Anganwadis, Poshan Day, Dada-Dadi, Nana-Nani Day were also celebrated. She further informed that Child Sarpanch Day and Positive Parenting Day were celebrated in the same way.

The Child Development Week was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Social Security Department with the help of children’s parents, grandparents and general public. She said that activities related to child nutrition, play and story based development, safety and tools and positive parenting were conducted in this programme. By fulfilling the basic needs of the children, department made efforts for the development of every child.

Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that 11,883 plants were planted during the children’s Mela in the villages of Punjab for a clean environment and to prevent pollution, 12,692 toys were donated in Anganwadi centers for the proper upbringing of children, to increase the morale of children 6571 child sarpanchs were elected among them and 3580 children were newly enrolled in Anganwadi centers.

Director of Social Security, Women and Child Development Department Madhvi Kataria said that Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur inaugurated the ‘Udaarian Bal Vikas Mela’ at the Anganwadi Center of Dholanwal village in Hoshiarpur. She said that the aim of this Mela is to bring forward the children of Anganwadi Centers on every front and develop them all round. Children and their parents from villages across the state were very enthusiastic about this Mela. The general public also participated in this Mela with full enthusiam.
