Transport Minister Checks papers of 63 buses at three locations, impounds five on spot, issues challans to 14 buses

Jalandhar News: Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Monday morning conducted surprise visit at RTA office besides checking buses at local Rama Mandi Chowk, Kartarpur and Dhilwan Toll Plaza with impounding five buses plying without valid papers.

  While checking papers of buses at three locations, the Minister checked 63 buses of which five were impounded and challans were issued to 14 buses for different violations.

  Accompanied by the officials of Transport Department and Regional Transport Authority’s Secretary, the Minister also interacted with the staff at RTA office at 7:30 am and directed to get delivery of public services within set time limit. He also expressed satisfaction as the staff was present at their respective seats in the morning and performing their duties. He took a round of RTA office to know the functioning of the staff as well as checking the attendance registers.

  After RTA office, the Minister along with the officers went to local Rama Mandi Chowk, Kartarpur and Toll Plaza at Dhilwan in Kapurthala district, where he personally checked the documents, permits and tax papers of the buses plying on the road. The Minister checked 63 buses of which five were impounded on the spot while given challans to 14 buses. Transport Minister further pointed out that no bus without valid documents including tax, tour details and permits would be allowed to ply on the roads as the surprise checking is being intensified in days to come. He directed the officials to issue challans in case of any bus flouting norms and impound the defaulting ones.
