Youth booked for displaying weapon on Social Media in Jalandhar

Jalandhar: The Commissionerate Police in Jalandhar has registered a case against an unidentified youth for displaying a weapon on social media. The case, filed under Section 223 BNS, concerns the violation of an order passed under Section 163 BNSS.

According to officials, the Social Media Monitoring Team of the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police discovered a video on Instagram during routine surveillance. In the video, an Instagram user under the handle “bhalla_hirday” is seen displaying a weapon, which is prohibited.

The Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, had previously issued an order under Section 163 BNSS (Order No. 5918-5983/CP/Arms/Jal, dated 14-08-2024), prohibiting the display of weapons. The video in question was found to be in violation of this order.

ACP Ashok Kumar said that an FIR has been registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Jalandhar, against the Instagram user “bhalla_hirday” for violating the order. Further investigations are ongoing.
