Newly elected Sarpanch shot dead near Patti, two injured over Sarpanch polls

Chandigarh: In a tragic incident near Thakkarpura village, close to Patti town, three motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire on a car, killing one and injuring two others. The deceased has been identified as Rajwinder Singh, also known as Raj Talwandi.

According to reports, Rajwinder Singh had been declared the winner unopposed sarpanch. While traveling with colleagues from Block Patti to his village to celebrate the victory, their vehicle was intercepted by three youths on motorcycles.

The assailants initially offered congratulations before opening fire. Rajwinder Singh was killed on the spot, while two others sustained injuries.
