14 dead after consuming spurious liquor in Amritsar’s Majitha constituency

Chandigarh: At least 14 people died after consuming spurious liquor in several villages under the Majitha constituency of Amritsar district on Monday night. Six others are currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital, police said.
The police have registered a case under the Excise Act and arrested seven individuals in connection with the incident.
Among those arrested are the main accused, Prabhjit Singh, his brother Kulbir Singh alias Jaggu, and their associates Sahib Singh alias Sarai, Gurjant Singh, and Ninder Kaur, wife of Jeeta of Tharewal village.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed grief over the loss of lives and said that those responsible for the deaths of innocent people would not be spared. Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni also assured that strict action would be taken against the guilty.
The investigation is ongoing.
