19,000 hoardings removed in 24 hours in Punjab, monitoring development projects
Chandigarh: With the Model Code of Conduct now in force for the Lok Sabha elections, the Punjab Election Commission has sprung into action. Within 24 hours, 19 thousand flexes, banners, and posters have been removed from public places in Punjab, including those featuring the Chief Minister, Prime Minister, ministers, and other political leaders.
The Election Commission is closely monitoring all activities, including ongoing development projects in the state. Election officers from all districts are in direct contact with the Commission.
According to reports, teams have identified 21,878 instances of flexes, posters, banners, etc., in public places across the state. Of these, 18,645 have already been removed.
Municipal Corporation teams are handling this task in urban areas, while 4,025 instances were found on private property, of which 3,541 have been taken down.
This process is ongoing across all districts. Additionally, there is now a heightened focus on voter awareness campaigns among the public.
