2 dead, 5 in critical condition after firing over land dispute in Amritsar

Chandigarh: In Amritsar, there was a shooting incident over land distributed 40 years ago. Two people working on the land died on the spot, and five others were injured.

The police arrived at the scene and began an investigation. Four of the injured, whose conditions have worsened, have been admitted to a private hospital in Amritsar, while one is receiving treatment in Lopoke.

The victims’ side said that the land was divided 40 years ago. Today, the accused ploughed the ground, prompting the victims to approach for negotiations.

However, the accused brandished illegal weapons and began firing indiscriminately. Two of their companions, Balwant Singh and Gurpreet Singh, died on the spot, and five others were severely injured.
