22-year-old Himachal woman murdered in Chandigarh, policeman friend arrested
Chandigarh: A 22-year-old woman from Himachal Pradesh, undergoing air hostess training in Chandigarh, was found murdered, with her body discovered in the Bhakra Canal in Patiala.
The accused, identified as Yuvraj Singh (34), a married policeman posted in Mohali, has been arrested and is in police custody on a five-day remand.
The deceased, Nisha Soni, hailed from Jogindernagar in Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh. Her last rites were performed in her hometown on Wednesday, with her family demanding strict action against the accused.
According to police, Nisha had been studying at SD College in Chandigarh for four years and had recently joined the Frankfinn Institute for air hostess training.
Her sister, Ritu Soni, revealed that Nisha met Yuvraj five months ago. He had claimed to be a 28-year-old bachelor but was later revealed to be married with a child, with his wife currently residing in Australia.
Ritu alleged that Yuvraj planned to end his relationship with Nisha before his wife’s return to India, leading to the murder. Authorities are investigating further.
