24-year-old shopkeeper killed, friend injured in attack over old dispute
Chandigarh: A 24-year-old shopkeeper, Avinash, was killed and his friend Gagandeep Singh seriously injured in a violent attack at Garhdiwala town in Hoshiarpur district late on Monday night.
The attack, reportedly linked to an old dispute, involved around 10 individuals armed with sharp weapons.
The assailants, arriving in two cars, targeted Avinash and Gagandeep, leaving them critically injured. Avinash succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to the hospital. Gagandeep is currently receiving treatment at Civil Hospital Dasuya.
Garhdiwala police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
In a related development, one of the cars used by the attackers met with an accident near Gondpur village while fleeing the scene.
The collision left six individuals, identified as Ravinder Rikhi, Navjot, Gaurav, Ravi, Ravneet, and Gurpreet Singh, seriously injured. Ravinder Rikhi, a resident of Bhattalan village, succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
The accident also injured three members of another family traveling in a car that collided with the attackers’ vehicle.
The injured are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. Authorities are continuing their investigation into both incidents.
