45% pumps in Punjab will be dry today, Transporters continue their strike
The transporters and truck drivers in Punjab have organized a mobilization against the new hit-and-run law. This protest has begun impacting the petrol pumps across the state. If the strike persists beyond this evening, it will not only inconvenience petrol pump owners but also affect the general public.
There is a likelihood that 45 percent of the state’s petrol pumps will soon run dry, depleting their oil reserves.
As a result, people will be left with no choice but to park their vehicles. Punjab has approximately 3600 petrol pumps spread across 23 districts. The primary supply of oil comes from Bathinda, Jalandhar, and Sangrur through tankers, which include trucks, pickups, and various other vehicles. Although oil companies possess their own vehicles, these too are unable to transport oil due to the strike. The striking depots are refusing to allow them to refill oil.
