Punjab records over 61% polling in Lok Sabha elections 2024
Chandigarh: Voting for 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab began at 7 am and ended at 6 pm on Saturday. According to the Election Commission’s App Voter Turnout, till 6 pm, 55.58% voting was recorded. The final figures of voting are yet to come.
During voting, cop Kuldeep Singh, who was posted at a booth in Tarn Taran, got killed with his gun in an accidental fire. At many places, voting was delayed due to malfunctioning of EVMs.
Meanwhile, Congress, BJP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers clashed in many places in which many workers were injured. In Jalandhar, a Congress polling agent was injured. It is alleged that AAP workers hit him on the head with a rod.
