7.7 kg ganja worth Rs 7.7 crore seized at Amritsar airport

New Delhi: The customs department at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar seized 7.7 kg of ganja from an Indian passenger on Monday. Officials said the man arrived at around 11:30 am on an Air India flight.

During a routine baggage check, officials discovered the contraband concealed in food packets. The seized drug is estimated to be worth Rs 7.7 crore.

The accused has been identified as Chanan Singh, an Indian passport holder. According to officials, the drug was hidden in different types of boxes. Photographs shared by the department show the narcotics carefully packed and disguised among personal belongings.

Further action is being taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
