AAP minister Tarunpreet Singh slams Congress and BJP over drug peddling in Punjab

Chandigarh: Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Punjab Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh held a press conference in Chandigarh today to address drug prevention efforts in Punjab, criticizing both the Congress and BJP.

Joined by Markfed Chairman Amandeep Singh Mohit in Sector-39, Chandigarh, Singh highlighted the government’s commitment to combating drug-related issues in the state.

During the conference, Singh referenced a news report from media about a recent seizure of 105 kg of heroin and alleged the involvement of Congress leaders in the case.

He cited the arrest of Congress Circle President Navjot Singh Lahoria in Baba Bakala, Amritsar, where Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence unit recovered 105 kg of heroin, 31.93 kg of caffeine, 17 kg of DMR, five foreign-made pistols, and one country-made pistol.

Singh said the gravity of this case, noting that initial investigations revealed the drug consignment originated in Pakistan, entered through Jammu, and was then transported to Punjab.

He said the market value of the seized drugs is estimated at approximately Rs 500 crore.
