AAP MLAs blame Ludhiana DC for municipal poll defeat

Ludhiana: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs Ashok Parashar Pappi and Gurpreet Gogi have blamed Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jatinder Jorwal for their wives’ defeats in the recently concluded Ludhiana Municipal Corporation elections.

Of the four AAP MLAs in Ludhiana, the sons of two won the elections, while the wives of Ashok Pappi and Gurpreet Gogi faced defeat.

The two MLAs have accused the administration of irregularities, alleging that hundreds of voters’ names were missing from the electoral rolls during the December 21 elections.

“It was shocking to see that the names of deceased individuals were on the voter list, while those who are alive were excluded. Many people were unable to cast their votes despite repeated calls for help,” the MLAs said.

Ashok Pappi announced plans to meet Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to raise these concerns. The MLAs have also accused the DC of mismanagement, holding him responsible for the outcome of the elections.

Earlier, MLA Gurpreet Gogi had similarly criticized the administration over electoral issues.
