AAP questions opposition’s support for Majithia after Z-plus security withdrawal

Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab president Aman Arora on Wednesday questioned the opposition’s support for Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia following the withdrawal of his Z-plus security cover. Majithia had alleged that the decision was retaliation for his criticism of the AAP government.

Leaders from the Akali Dal, Congress, and BJP criticized the move, prompting Arora to ask why they were sympathetic towards someone facing drug trafficking charges.

“The way Congress, Akalis, and BJP have united over Majithia’s security, they have never done so for the rights of Punjabi people,” Arora said in a video message. He claimed that the opposition’s reaction indicated that they did not want an end to drug trafficking in Punjab.

“Today, when a major anti-drug campaign is underway, a person accused of drug smuggling was given security at the same level as the Prime Minister. Was that justified?” he questioned.

Arora reiterated that the government would take strict action against drugs in Punjab, regardless of the individual’s status.
