AAP secures victory in three Punjab assembly seats
Chandigarh: In Punjab, the results of all four assembly seats have been declared, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) securing three key victories.
Ishank Kumar emerged victorious from the Chabbewal constituency in Hoshiarpur district, Gurdeep Singh Randhawa won the Dera Baba Nanak seat in Gurdaspur district, and Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon clinched the Gidderbaha seat in Muktsar district.
The victories further bolster AAP’s presence in the state as the party continues to expand its political footprint.
In Chabbewal, AAP’s Ishank Kumar defeated Congress candidate Ranjit Kumar by a margin of 28,690 votes. Ishank Kumar, the son of Hoshiarpur MP Rajkumar Chabbewal, witnessed Congress’ Ranjit Kumar leaving the counting center after his loss became evident.
Gidderbaha has emerged as the hot seat of this by-election. Initially, a close contest between AAP and Congress unfolded, but AAP’s Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon has now secured a steady lead.
His background as a former Akali leader appears to have worked in his favor. Congress leader Amrita Warring, wife of Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, trails in second place, while two-time finance minister Manpreet Badal, contesting on a BJP ticket, is currently in third.
