AAP’s governance and the success of mohalla clinics: A boon for local healthcare

Punjab E News: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) achieved a significant victory in the 2022 Punjab elections, appointing Bhagwant Mann as the state’s Chief Minister. Since taking office, CM Bhagwant Mann has been committed to delivering on AAP’s pre-election promises to Punjab’s people.
From providing free electricity to reforming education and healthcare, Mann has launched various initiatives aimed at improving these sectors. Notably, in healthcare, his Mohalla Clinic initiative is proving transformative, positively impacting local access to medical services.
Under the Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinic initiative, numerous clinics have been established across the state, offering essential healthcare services at no cost.
These clinics provide free treatment, medical tests, and medicines. Staffed by experienced doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals, they diagnose and treat a range of health issues, alleviating pressure on larger hospitals and improving healthcare accessibility.
Dr. Baljit Sood of Mohalla Clinic in Jalandhar said that her clinic operates with a team comprising a doctor, pharmacist, clinic assistant, and other support staff. She expressed gratitude to the Punjab government, noting that the clinics have not only expanded healthcare access in villages but also created job opportunities for the youth.
A local resident shared how the clinics have made healthcare more accessible, especially for the elderly, who no longer need to travel to distant cities for basic medical needs. With essential services now available within the village, obtaining medicines and treatment has become much easier.
