Action against blackmailing journalists in Jalandhar soon: CP Swapn Sharma

Jalandhar: The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police will take action taken against alleged journalists involved in blackmailing and harassing the public.

In a meeting held with the Electronic Media Association (EMA), led by President Sandeep Sahi, Police Commissioner Swapn Sharma assured to address the various issues.

Sandeep Sahi raised the issue of bogus journalists operating web portals and blackmailing people for money, causing distress among the public.

Commissioner Sharma assured that strict action would be taken against such individuals and said that no fake journalist involved in blackmailing would be spared in Jalandhar.

The Commissioner said that in cases of complaints against genuine journalists, investigations would be handled by a gazetted officer. He assured EMA members that they could approach him directly if they faced any issues.

Prominent journalists, including Narendra Nandan, Pawan Dhupar, Sudhir Puri, Ashwini Malhotra, Preet Suji, Naresh Bhardwaj, Vinay Pal Jaid, Atul Sharma, Manish Sharma, Pankaj Soni, Manveer Sabharwal, Jatinder Kumar, Gaurav Bassi, Swatantra Jangwal, Paramjit Rangpuri, Dimple Singh, and Pawan Kannaujiya, were present during the meeting.
