Action must be taken against illegal agents: MP Vikramjit Singh Sahni

Chandigarh: Rajya Sabha member Dr. Mr. Vikramjit Singh Sahni has lauded the Punjab Police for the recent decisive action taken against the travel agents operating illegally in Punjab.

The Punjab Police has so far registered a case against 43 travel agents for illegally advertising foreign employment opportunities on social media platforms, which is a significant step in the ongoing war against human trafficking.

Dr. Sahni said he has been advocating action against illegal agents for a long time and has been raising the issue inside and outside Parliament for the past one year.

Dr. Sahni said that a sting operation was also conducted by his office, which revealed that continuous activities were being carried out by the banned agents in Punjab, following which a comprehensive dossier containing the list of these illegal agents was submitted to the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab on June 18, 2023.

Dr. Sahni said that they have played a key role in evacuating the youth stranded abroad and around 100 women from Punjab have been evacuated from the Middle East in this connection.

Stressing on the importance of keeping the common people alert, Sahni said that fake travel agents dupe gullible youth by promising them jobs abroad, but leave them midway in countries like Russia, Libya, Greece etc.
