Administration Vigilant To Tackle Exigency, Terms Inspect Dhussi Bandh: Vishesh Sarangal

Jalandhar News: Owing to heavy rainfall over the past two days in Himachal Pradesh and enhanced levels of water in Sutlej, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal asked the officers to remain vigilant to tackle any sort of emergency.

The Deputy Commissioner who reviewed the situation in wake of the release of water from Ropar Head works, said that high vigil had to be kept in wake of the heavy rainfall in neighboring hill state, which was a cause of concern.

He said that the continuous rain in hill state had enhanced the level of water in rivers, which could pose danger in the district. He also said that the district administration was also fully aware because of which utmost care was being taken.

DC ORDERS REGULAR PATROLLING ALONG WITH DHUSSI BANDH TO KEEP REGULAR TAB ON SUTLEJ RIVER

The Deputy Commissioner also asked the Sub Divisional Magistrates to ensure regular patrolling of the dhussi bandh along with the Sutlej river to keep a tab over the water level.

He also asked them to plug the vulnerable points along with the river and take the remedial measures wherever required. He said that a lot of precaution has to be taken for checking any sort of threat to life and property.

APPEALS PEOPLE TO NOT TO GO NEAR RIVER

The Deputy Commissioner also formed teams of revenue officials led by SDMs to ensure strengthen the banks of river so that water does not enter the village. He also asked them to fortify the banks with the sandbags in adequate numbers. Later, the teams inspected the Dhussi Bandh personally and made public announcements regarding to not to go near river.

It may be mentioned here that the Satluj river has nearly 90 KM stretch falls in Jalandhar district from Phillaur to Lohian and to avoid any loss to human life and live stock , Concerned SDMs of Phillaur , Shahkot and Nakodar along with Tehsildars and Drainage officials visited the Dhusi Bandh as the work to strengthen its key points have already been started .

He also urged panchayats to remain alert as precautionary measures besides bringing any seepage/ leakage in bandhs to the notice of administration so any adverse situation to be avoided.
