After MLA’s death, Ludhiana West by-election to be held by July 10
Ludhiana: Following the death of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Gurpreet Gogi, the Ludhiana West Assembly seat has been declared vacant, prompting preparations for a by-election. A notification has been issued, and the election is set to take place before July 10.
By law, by-elections must be conducted within six months of a Lok Sabha or Assembly seat falling vacant. With the political landscape heating up, several parties are gearing up to contest the seat.
Former MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu, who was previously imprisoned in a CBI case, is expected to stake his claim for the Ludhiana West constituency.
The AAP, BJP, and other key parties are likely to field candidates, while the Shiromani Akali Dal’s position remains unclear.
Meanwhile, the Vigilance Bureau and Enforcement Directorate’s ongoing investigations could further impact the political dynamics in the run-up to the election.
