Bajwa slams BJP after ED raids at Bhupesh Baghel’s locations

Chandigarh: After the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at several locations of the former Chhatisgarh CM and Punjab Congress Incharge Bhupesh Baghel, the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Union Government.

“The ED raid at the 14 locations of Bhupesh Baghel is nothing but a cruel conspiracy to intimidate the senior Indian National Congress leader.

With misuse of its agencies including the ED, the BJP government has been constantly attempting to strangulate the voices of leaders belonging to the opposition parties, the INC leaders in particular. This spineless act is highly deplorable,” Bajwa added.

Senior Congress Leader Bajwa said that even during the Congress Party regime in Chhatisgarh, the central agencies conducted at least 600 raids at the locations of Bhupesh Baghel and other party leaders.

However, these raids turned out to be futile, and the agencies could not find anything illegal. The court has already dismissed a forged case against him.

“The BJP seems to have been scared of the popularity of Congress in Punjab that’s why it intensified its sordid agendas against Bhupesh Baghel after he became Punjab Congress Incharge.

Instead of indulging in such petty politics, the BJP government in the centre should fight a political battle with democratic principles. It will never succeed in frightening congress leaders and workers with the brute misuse of power,” Bajwa stated.
