Bank fraud Case: AAP MLA Gajanmajra withdraws plea from Supreme Court
Chandigarh: Punjab AAP MLA Jaswant Singh Gajanmajra today withdrew from the Supreme Court his plea challenging his arrest and remand by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering probe related to a bank fraud case.
A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma allowed the plea of the counsel for MLA Gajanmajra to withdraw the plea and granted him liberty to approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court for bail.
The apex court had earlier refused to grant interim bail to Amargarh MLA Jaswant Singh for campaigning during the Lok Sabha polls. The Punjab and Haryana High Court had also dismissed the petition challenging the mla’s arrest, saying there was nothing illegal in it.
The CBI had in May last year carried out searches at multiple locations in Gajanmajra in connection with the Rs 40-crore bank fraud case.
