BJP minister Bittu meets PM Modi, discusses Punjab issues and Ludhiana West bypoll

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, Ravneet Singh Bittu, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday evening to discuss several issues concerning Punjab, including water scarcity and political developments in the state.
During the 40-minute meeting, Bittu raised concerns about Punjab’s water shortage, the potential impact of suspending the Indus Water Treaty, and the need for constructing canals in the Doaba and Majha regions. He also praised the Prime Minister for the successful execution of Operation Sindoor.
Sources said the Prime Minister also sought feedback on the Ludhiana West assembly constituency, where the BJP secured the highest number of votes during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
While opposition parties such as the Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, and Shiromani Akali Dal have already announced their candidates for the upcoming bypoll, the BJP is yet to declare its nominee and is awaiting the official poll schedule.
