BJP to contest Punjab elections alone, says Manjinder Singh Sirsa

Chandigarh: Senior BJP leader and cabinet minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the party will contest the upcoming Punjab elections without any alliance. His statement indirectly ruled out any tie-up with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). He noted that the BJP had fought the last two elections in Punjab independently.

Commenting on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s vipassana retreat, Sirsa alleged it was a preparation to remove Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

He claimed that the AAP, which he referred to as a “fugitive party from Delhi,” had now shifted focus to Punjab.

In a veiled attack on AAP, Sirsa said Punjab never had a knowledge-sharing agreement with the previous Delhi government but rather a “money-sharing agreement.” He asserted that the BJP would win the trust of Punjab’s people.
