BJP workers accompanied by Rinku and Sheetal hold roadshow in Jalandhar, AAP protests
Jalandhar: After joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a roadshow was held here on Friday for former MP Sushil Kumar Rinku and former MLA Sheetal Angural.
During the event, former MP Rinku and former MLA Sheetal Angural were accompanied by a heavy security presence. The roadshow commenced at Workshop Chowk around 4:30 pm and concluded at BR Ambedkar Chowk approximately two hours later.
Rinku and Angural received an enthusiastic welcome from BJP workers during the roadshow. They also made stops at Ali Mohalla and visited the temple of Shri Guru Valmiki Maharaj. Additionally, BJP workers ignited fireworks along the route and sought blessings at BR Ambedkar Chowk.
AAP workers had announced a protest against the roadshow, prompting strict security arrangements by the police. Punjab Police teams and the Anti-Raid Force were deployed along the route.
The roadshow, initially planned to start from Swami Viveka Nandar Chowk (Workshop Chowk) at 4 pm, began an hour later than scheduled and concluded late in the evening at Dr BR Ambedkar Chowk. This marks their first joint roadshow since leaving the Aam Aadmi Party, providing an opportunity for both leaders to engage with the public.
Meanwhile, AAP workers showed black flags to Rinku and Angural during the BJP roadshow. All AAP workers carried posters with slogans of Punjab De Gaddar. AAP’s protest was going on from 4:30 pm. They were stopped near Jyoti Chowk under the supervision of Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma.
