Blast at illegal firecracker factory near Amritsar, 7 injured

Amritsar: Seven persons were injured in an explosion at an illegal firecracker factory operating in a rented house in Punjab’s Amritsar, police said on Monday.

The incident took place on Sunday evening at Nagal Guru village in Jandiala town, about 25 km from Amritsar city.

A huge quantity of material used to make firecrackers was kept inside the house. It exploded after it caught fire.

Seven people were injured in the blast, police said. The walls of the house where the illegal firecracker factory was operating were damaged. The injured have been admitted to a government hospital in Amritsar for treatment.
