Cameras snatched from youth for taking photos near Golden Temple by Nihang Singh

Amritsar: Late at night near the Golden Temple, the Nihang Singh team seized cameras from youths who were taking photos in the area. Following the incident, the youths were reprimanded and instructed to carry out their activities away from the temple vicinity.

According to sources, many visitors take photos to capture the beauty of Heritage Street, which leads to the Golden Temple. Devotees also often take pictures there as souvenirs.

Recently, with the opening of the food street and other attractions, including the Partition Museum, photo shoots have become more frequent. Young photographers have been seen roaming the area, capturing images of boys and girls posing for the camera.

The Nihang Singh Budda Dal had previously expressed their objection to this behavior and had warned the youth. However, as these activities continued, the Nihangs took action last night by confiscating the cameras of those they found in the area. The youths were then lined up and severely reprimanded.

Nihang Satinder Singh explained that the Golden Temple is a religious site where people come to seek peace of mind and the blessings of God. He expressed concern that the poses struck by some individuals during photo shoots can be inappropriate or even obscene, which offends the religious sentiments of devotees.

“This is why we took action today,” he stated, adding that the youths were told to conduct their activities elsewhere and to treat Heritage Street as a sacred path.

Previously, photos from a pre-wedding shoot on Heritage Street went viral, leading to interventions by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the police.
