Centre, farmer unions to hold next MSP talks on March 19

New Delhi: Union ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Piyush Goyal, and Pralhad Joshi met leaders of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha in Chandigarh today to discuss farmers’ demands, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) on crops.

However, the talks remained inconclusive, and a follow-up meeting has been scheduled for March 19.

The meeting, which began at 6 pm at Magsipa Bhawan in Sector 26, was attended by 28 farmer representatives, including Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who was brought in by ambulance.

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian, and Lalchand Kataruchak were also present.

Despite an open discussion on MSP and other concerns, no resolution was reached. The Centre will continue negotiations with farmer leaders in the next round of talks.
