Close aide of Minister Bittu arrested under SC/ST Act in Patiala

Chandigarh: The Patiala Civil Lines police have arrested Rajesh Attri, a close aide of Union Minister of State Ravneet Bittu, under the SC/ST Act.

The arrest was made following a complaint from a resident of Lahori Gate, Patiala, who alleged that Attri made derogatory remarks against him during a mistaken WhatsApp call on Sunday evening.

According to DSP Satnam Singh, the complainant had inadvertently dialed Attri’s number, during which the accused allegedly used offensive language. An FIR was subsequently registered, leading to Attri’s arrest.

Reacting to the development, Ravneet Bittu accused Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of misusing power, stating on social media platform X that Mann had orchestrated the arrest of his close aide, with whom his family shares a longstanding relationship.
