CM hands over cheque of insurance worth Rs 1 crore to family of martyred Home Guard Jawan Jaspal Singh

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday gave cheque worth Rs 1 crore as insurance cover to the family of Home Guard Jawan Jaspal Singh who had laid down his life in line of duty.

Handing over the cheque to his family, the Chief Minister, while expressing solidarity with them, said that the state government is committed for their welfare adding that the son of martyr has already been recruited in Police force as constable. He said that Jaspal Singh had died while performing his duty at Sultanpur Lodhi adding that the payment of insurance cover worth Rs 1 crore has been made by the state government through HDFC bank whereas Rs 1 crore financial assistance was already given to family. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this initiative is in recognition of the immense contribution of this son of soil towards maintaining law and order in the state.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that financial assistance to family of Jaspal Singh is in consonance with the commitment of the state government to ensure the well being of the soldiers (from Armed forces, paramilitary and Police) and their families. Bhagwant Singh Mann hoped that this humble initiative by the state will go a long way in helping the aggrieved family on one hand and securing their future on the other. He reiterated the firm commitment of the state government to recognise the immense contribution of these valiant sons of soil for safeguarding the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country.
