CM Mann accuses Bajwa of spreading panic with bomb claims

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday criticised senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, accusing him of playing an “irresponsible role” by making unverified claims about the presence of bombs in the state.

Speaking to reporters at Punjabi University during a state-level function marking Ambedkar Jayanti, Mann said that if there had been any credible threat, central and state agencies would have been in coordination. “Bajwa has done this to spread terror or else he is hiding a secret,” Mann said.

The remarks came after Bajwa, in a recent interview with a private TV channel, alleged that 50 bombs had entered Punjab — 18 of which had already been activated, while 32 were yet to be operational.

The Punjab Police registered a case against Bajwa at Mohali police station on Sunday night in connection with his comments.
