CM Mann likely to shift to 177-year-old house in Jalandhar

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann is expected to move into a 177-year-old house in Baradari, which was once the residence of the first divisional commissioner.

Renovations are underway, with new sofas being installed and badminton and volleyball courts being set up.

Currently, Mann resides in a rented house in Jalandhar Cantt.

He had promised residents of Doaba and Majha that he would visit Jalandhar once or twice a week to address their concerns, reducing the need for them to travel to Chandigarh. The rented house is located outside the city, prompting the decision to shift to a more accessible location.

The historic Baradari residence features four drawing rooms, four bedrooms, three office rooms, a verandah, and two family flats with 10 rooms for support staff.

It also includes a large garden and is situated near the Gymkhana Club of Jalandhar. Over the past 177 years, the building has housed 140 commissioners.
